Ephesians 3:20-21

20)Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21)to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (NIV)

This verse shows us 3 important promises about God.

1. God is able. Paul is saying that God possess within Himself absolute power and unlimited resources.

2. God does far more abundantly than all we ask or think God is the God of the impossible. Our greatest idea, our greatest imagining and our best resolution is nothing compared to what God can do. This means God has plans in His mind that we have not imagined. This seems obvious when we actually say it. However our hearts so easily give in to despair because God does not seem to live up to what we are thinking. Why should He? He is greater than our minds. He is the God of the impossible. He is beyond the realm of the deepest and greatest thought any person can have. Regardless of how impossible your situation is to you and to everyone else, it is not impossible to God. In fact, God is not worried or panicked about your situation or you. He has something in for you, a plan (purpose). He does not always accomplish what we want, but in fact, He will accomplish more than we can imagine. He created the Heavens and Earth, so surely He can create something amazing in your life!

3. God accomplishes His will according to the power that is at work within us. If you know Christ as your personal Savior, you are indwelt by God Himself through the Holy Spirit. That means even if you feel inadequate for what you face in life, God who lives in you is all powerful and all sufficient for every circumstance. He is enough for everything that comes your way. These words take on new meaning when you realize Paul was writing them from his own impossible situation- he was in prison. And yet he knew that God was able, God could do the impossible and God lived in him.
