The younger of the twins, Mhairi, is to have surgery in the morning. She was born with parts of her stomach on the outside of the peritoneal sac, not outside the skin but right underneath the skin. We were hoping it could wait to be fixed when she got older but the doctors are now telling us that her liver is failing because it's not all plumbed up properly (can't think how else to write that one) and if they don't fix it all up soon it will fail completely and they wont be able to give her a donor liver because of the damage it will cause.
They plan to get as much of her stomach back to where it should be and to reconnect it all so that the strain comes off the liver. It's really big surgery and she might not even survive the anaesthetic, she's been given an overall survival chance of 40% and if the surgery works she'll need 2 more operations when she's at school.
Please pray that the operation will go well for Mhairi.

Mhairi's operation
We sure will keep you all in prayer for this my friend. Thankfully 40% doesn't mean much to God. God bless you all.
The operation went well and
The operation went well and we could see the difference straight away - she looks like a much more normal colour already though the doctors say that she's not out of the woods yet and they need to keep taking blood to make sure her liver is holding up.
There were also some problems with getting her round from the anastetic, it's just gone 2.30am here, 12 hours after she came out of surgery and that's the hospital just called to say she's awake - isn't it typical that kids wait til after just their parents are gone?
At the moment it's looking well, a lot of the surgeons have mentioned that they never expected the twins, especially Mhairi, to last this long and every morning they wake up increases their chance of getting out of the unit.
I know that neither me nor Ryan makes it online much but we are still praying for the ablazenet community and we are really thankful to everyone who catches us when we're online and reminds us that people all over the world are praying and of course to all the people who are saying the prayers.
God bless you all,
Jennifer

Managed to get a photo of the two of them yesterday, you can see it here:

Evangeline is on the left and Mhairi is on the right.
Both twins had
Both twins had echocardiographs on Friday which show the holes in the heart are closing themselves, a miracle which could mean there's no need for heart surgery.
Mhairi has been moved from the infant high dependancy unit to what the nurses call the growers ward, the general concensus seems to be that the surgery was a complete sucess and she'll be home as soon as she's big enough, she's currently 3lb 7oz which is a massive increase in 5 weeks, they'll let her out when she reaches 5lb which shouldn't be much longer as she's a really good feeder.
Evangeline is still in high dependancy because of her funny turns, she is seeing a paediatric cardiologist who we're hoping will make a diagnosis any day now. Based on Jen having NCS and POTS it's thought that Eva could have the juvenille version of these illnesses (RAS) but this is hard to diagnose and involves ruling every other problem out. Fortunately if it is RAS it's not serious and there's a chance she will outgrow it before she starts school.
