WHAT IS THE CROSS

What is the cross. Two pieces of wood put together in a T form? A piece of jewelry that some people wear on a chain, as earrings, on a charm bracelet? It is found on churches, hung on walls in homes, headstones in a cemetary. It is seen everywhere, but is the meaning of the cross understood? People know a man died on that cross. But do they know, really know who that man was? Do they understand what was done on that cross?
No, most do not realize or comprehend the depth of the cross. It is more than a symbol. It is more than two pieces of wood, or a piece of jewelry. It is more than just a reminder of the man who died. It is more than a mans death. Much much more.
First we need to know who this man was. To realize what was done, one must know that this was God in human form. This was Jesus, God and man both. Creator of all things thru the Holy Spirit. King of heaven come to earth from His heavenly home to save man from His judgement by taking the judgement upon Himself. He gave His life that we may have life. He gave His all that we may have all.
Beaten, whipped, tortured, reduced to human rubble. Spat upon, beard ripped out, mocked and rejected even by those whom He had lived with and taught for 3 years. Forced to carry a wooden cross bar on His torn back. Then nailed to the cross. The nails piercing the central nerves in the wrist and feet. Forced to move up and down the cross in order to breathe and to speak. He could not exhale when lowered and pushed himself up on nail torn feet. Spasms wracked his body, suffocation in slow form. A crown of thorns upon His head, pushed down so that it penetrated skin and bone. Flies pestering him where He bled and sweat. Shamed from being naked in front of the people. This was Jesus! Suffering pain, degradation, agony, all for the love of man. For healing, for forgiveness, for deliverance, for US!!!!!!
Nothing that was done to Him was done without purpose. Oh, they thought they were doing it to punish. But it was foretold from the beginning. All thru the Old Testament all that happened to Him was foretold.
The crown of thorns for mental disease and brain damage.
The torn skin for skin diseases.
The nails thru the nerves for nerve disease.
The dislocation of His joints for bone and joint diseases.
The suffocation for heart and lung disease.
The loneliness and despair for our loneliness. He took all our diseases upon Himself.
He is the healer thru the cross.
