As most of us know Israel ceased to exist as a nation after the fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Israel came back into existence post WW 2 in 1949. (or was it 1948?) As far as this writer knows no country except Israel has ceased to exist and came back as a country after so many years. The point being this is all predicted in the Old Testament in several places. Not only this but many Christian writers wrote of restored Israel using the Old Testament at times when Israel did not exist. For example Matthre Henry Bible Commentary written in 1706. (available online) Commentary on Jeremiah 30:1-11 "The Jews shall be restored again....the restoration and happy state of Israel are fortold;" Jeremiah 31:1-9 "...these predictions doubtless refer also to a future gathering of Israelites from all quarters of the globe."

U also have John Wesley & rsquos Explanatory Notes (available online) See commentary on Jeremiah 30:9 also John Wesley commentary on Jeremiah 23:8..."They shall dwell= Possibly part of this prophecy remains yet to be accomplished for the Jews are not yet come to dwell in their own land." Came across this whole idea when a christian teacher mentioned it. Namely christian writers wrote of restored Israel when Israel did not exist and had no way of knowing the future restoration of Israel except by Scripture. Check it out yourselves. Conditions in Israel exist now which have not existed since to the time of Soloman in that Israel is self rule and undivided. Much is yet to be fullfilled as Israel is pretty much secular and they have not yet obtained land mass as described in scripture. Look for Israel to grow in size and for many to come to Christ in the future.
